PERSIAN SILK WEAVING
Persian Silk Weaving’ photographed in 2016, Kashan, Iran by Ugne Pouwell.
This shot was captured by Ugne on her travels to Iran. It depicts the ancient trade of silk weaving. The memory of the Silk Road is still alive in the remotest regions of Iran, where the ancient route once passed. Ugne captured this scene in black and white not just to emphasise the ancient memories visible in the composition, but also to highlight the simplicity and honesty of what is being seen. A man just looking up while he is working an ancient trade that has support his family for centuries.
