PERSIAN SILK WEAVING
‘Persian Silk Weaving’ photographed in 2016, Kashan, Iran by Ugne Pouwell.
This shot was captured by Ugne on her travels to Iran. It depicts the ancient trade of silk weaving. The memory of the Silk Road is still alive in the most remote regions of Iran, where the ancient route once passed. Ugne captured this scene in black and white, not just to emphasise the ancient memories visible in the composition, but also to highlight the simplicity and honesty of what is being seen. A man just looking up while he is performing his ancient trade that has supported his family for centuries.
‘Silk Weaving’ is printed Hahnemühle German Etching 310 gsm fine art paper and measures 33 x 48 cm. It’s limited to just 20 editions.
