ABOUT JOHANNES NIELSEN

Johannes Nielsen was born in 1979 in Falkenberg, Sweden. In 2001 he enrolled in the Lund's Art School to receive his professional training. In 2003 he continued his education by moving to Dublin and becoming the assistant of the famous sculptor Patrick O'Reilly, where he honed his sculptural practice.

Johannes his work can be found all over the world. His sculptures are part of public and private collections in Sweden, London, Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, Hollywood, New York and Montreal. Recently he presented a solo exhibition in Stockholm, Sweden where most artworks were sold to collectors at the opening.

In 2007 Johannes found his roots in another part of the world. Even though he was brought up in Sweden he now permanently calls Beijing, China his home.

JOHANNES NIELSEN’S ART: WHAT YOU SEE WHEN YOU CLOSE YOUR EYES.

Johannes' work revolves around the human body and mind. His creations are, most of the time, not what they appear to be at first sight. His artwork knows deeper meaning and though:

“I’m inspired by our human anatomy, both the tangible and the intangible aspects. As I see it, we can experience our body in two different ways. One is through the senses; sight, smell, and touch. The other way is found when we close our eyes. With our eyes shut, we can experience new thoughts , sensations, or even imaginations.”

Johannes sculptures manage to capture those thoughts, sensations and imaginations and make them tangible. His work drifts from realism and figurative towards magical realism and almost surrealistic creations. His medium of choice is bronze.

WHY A “NIELSEN” MIGHT BE THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR YOU.

Johannes Nielsen's art is just perfect if you’re looking for a highly collectible sculpture that is not just stunning to behold, but has a stronger and deeper meaning as well. The strength from Johannes’ work doesn't just come from the stunning details and design, it’s found in the depth of the thought behind it. Every one of his creations has a unique story.

Furthermore, Johannes’ sculptures, due to their size and design, can be displayed everywhere. They can be placed in a prominent place against a plain background, but they will come to equal right if they are displayed next to other works in your collection. That said, we do highly recommend placing them on a plateau or block of some sort. Especially with a contrasting colour, such as white. It really brings out the strength and detail of the work.
