ABOUT DASHA PEARS

Dasha Pears is an award-winning Russian conceptual photographer, currently based in Helsinki, Finland. Dasha uses the instruments of surrealism, colour and photography to talk about our deepest feelings; emotions, states of mind, mind shifts and more. She started her artist journey back in 2011, after being tired of her career path in marketing communications. Having experimented with many different styles and types of photography, Dasha managed to find herself in the conceptual and fine art realm. Since the start of her journey her photography has been exhibited in Russia, France, Poland, Austria, Italy and Finland and can be found on book covers published in Europe, the United States and South America. In 2016 Dasha started sharing her experience and talent for conceptual photography by organizing photoshoots and creative photography workshops.

DASHA PEARS’S ART; THE CAPTURE OF WHAT IS FELT.

“Photography turned out to be a way of discovering my true self and expressing it. My works are a reflection of this discovery process and I hope that they can help others who are on the same journey as me.”

In metaphorical ways Dasha strives to capture and share ideas, thoughts, states of being that can be found in many people’s minds: negative self-talk, being overwhelmed by all kinds of emotions, finding that activity that puts you in the state of flow or when it feels like time ceases to exist.

Dasha’s photography is heavily influenced by classical fine art and surrealism. But also by fantasy and science fiction. Peace and tranquillity. Strength and confidence. A grain of melancholy. With a bit of a whim, mystery, and fantasy.

“The instrument of surrealism allows me to show that a scene is only partially real and that most of it is going on in the subject’s mind.”

Dasha’s works are carefully composed and many of them are leaning towards minimalism. This is her way of expressing that controlling your mind and therefore allowing yourself to create space is crucial for discovering who you are and who you are not.

WHY A ‘PEARS’ MIGHT BE THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR YOU.

Dasha’s photography has made feelings tangible. Her lens is capable of capturing scenes and moments that simply allow you to bring those emotions into your home. Her work will impress. The outspoken ness, even found in her minimalistic work, is bound to set a mood. Dasha's art is best set to a flat, plain background. It should be isolated from other influences in order to take your time and truly experience it without distraction.
